It is easier to do this as you do not have to queue on hold waiting to request an appointment. We will respond to these requests within 1 working day.

The link should not be used for life threatening issues.

Please note that responses are looked at during working hours, if you need to speak to someone urgently when we are closed, you should call 111 or 999 if you consider your situation life threatening.

There is a national shortage of GPs, which unfortunately means that demand for appointments outstrips what we are able to supply. To help make sure the people who really need to see a doctor can, your call will be care navigated to the most appropriate service. This may be the doctor, or it may be the physiotherapist, pharmacist, or optician. We may also direct conditions that can and should be self managed to the local pharmacy team, who will give advice and recommend over the counter remedies that may help. If the pharmacy team feel, after speaking with a patient, that they do need to see a doctor, they are able to refer back to us.

If we are at capacity, we may also be able to offer you an appointment the same day at a different location in the city (subject to availability) at extended access hubs.

Patients do not need to make appointments for continuation sick notes, to chase a previous referral to hospital or to request a doctor's letter. In these instances, we will send the patient an econsult link with a questionnaire to fill in. The doctor or surgery team will then process the request from the information provided.

Please cancel your appointment if you are unable to attend. You can do this via online services or by replying to the reminder text you recieve.

We run an appointment only system. The GPs have between 10-15 minutes per appointment; if you have several problems and think you need more time, please let the receptionist know.
Each appointment is for 1 person only and children under 16 should be accompanied by an adult.
Some people's problems may take longer than expected and you may have to wait - please be patient.

Home Visits

The doctors can carry out home visits for patients who are housebound and who are more vulnerable.

Requests for home visits should be made on a request form https://accurx.nhs.uk/patient-initiated/C88048/flow/medical-request If you are unable to use online services you should telephone the surgery and one of the receptionists will help.Where possible requests should be made before 10:30am; this allows us to arrange our visits in terms of urgency and geographical area.

You may be requested to attend the surgery as home visits really should be restricted to the very elderly, disabled or terminally ill patients. In most cases the doctor will speak to you to ascertain the urgency required.

Nurse and Healthcare Assistant Appointments

Our experienced Practice Nurses and Health Care Assistants are usually available to deal with the following:

Diabetic and Asthma reviews
Blood pressure checks
Dressings changes, including suture (stitch) removal
Immunisation and injections including childhood & flu vaccinations, medication injections eg B12 etc
Contraception - including pills, emergency contraception, depo injections, coil checks

Diet and lifestyle advice including weight loss

Midwife appointments

You should refer yourself to the midwifery team for your antenatal care.

MAT B1 forms are given at over 20 weeks by your midwife, not by the Practice.

Please note we do not provide dental services. Phone your dentist if you have dental problems: your NHS dentist is contracted to treat you for emergency and routine dental care. If you do not have a dentist then please call 111 who can arrange an appointment with an emergency dental service.
